Why the weight of an empty handbag is important for your health?
Your bag tells more about you than anything else! It says what you do, where you are going, what your taste is like, your financial situation, your mood, your character, and your lifestyle. You can hide in your bag, but you cannot hide your bag from the world. It is out there!
Do you know how much the average working woman carries in her bag daily?
About 6 pounds plus the handbag!
Ten years ago, I got a fancy job, but to get there, I had to use public transportation and carry a staff for the whole day.
I needed a big, elegant, lightweight bag (I got scoliosis as a teenager from a heavy school bag), but everything I could find was too small, too heavy, or too expensive. I looked online, but the weight had never been included in the product descriptions. Because I had trouble finding the right bag for me; that’s why I started to design and make bags for myself.
Considering the weight of an empty handbag is important for a few reasons:
-
Comfort: The weight of the handbag can affect your comfort level when carrying it. A heavy bag can put strain on your shoulder, arm, or back, especially if you carry it for extended periods. It's essential to choose a handbag that feels comfortable to carry, as it will reduce the risk of discomfort or potential health issues.
-
Practicality: A lightweight handbag can be more practical for everyday use. It allows you to carry your essentials without adding unnecessary weight. This can be particularly beneficial if you have a busy lifestyle or need to carry the bag for long periods, such as during travel or commuting.
-
Mobility and ease of movement: Carrying a heavy handbag can restrict your mobility and make it more challenging to move freely. It can affect your posture and make it uncomfortable to navigate through crowds or perform daily activities. Opting for a lighter handbag ensures more flexibility and ease of movement.
-
Avoiding overpacking: A heavy handbag may tempt you to carry more items than necessary, leading to clutter and disorganization. By selecting a lightweight bag, you're more likely to be mindful of the essentials and avoid overpacking. This promotes better organization, reduces strain on your body, and keeps your belongings more accessible.
-
Travel convenience: If you frequently travel or use your handbag during trips, a lightweight option can be beneficial. Airlines often impose weight restrictions for carry-on bags, and a heavy handbag can contribute to exceeding those limits. Additionally, a lighter bag is more convenient to carry around during sightseeing or exploring new places.
-
Longevity: Heavy bags can put additional stress on the bag's straps, handles, and overall structure. Over time, this strain can lead to wear and tear, affecting the bag's durability and lifespan. Choosing a lighter handbag can help minimize unnecessary stress on its components, ensuring it stays in good condition for longer.
While the weight of an empty handbag may not be the sole deciding factor in your purchase, it's worth considering for the sake of comfort, practicality, and overall usability. Ultimately, finding the right balance between weight and functionality is essential to ensure a pleasant and convenient experience with your chosen handbag.
